Cueva de las calaveras

Cueva de las calaveras

La Cueva de las Calaveras, is located in the Marina Alta, is a cavity of more than 900 meters in length, which owes its name to the fact that in a caving expedition carried out in the 17th century, the remains of twelve people were found in its interior.

The grotto stands out for its high ceilings and is divided into a 500-meter-long flooded area and a 400-meter-long dry area that can be visited by the public. During the tour you can see stalactites, stalagmites, beautiful domes over 20m high and fossils and bone remains among many other things.

The Cave of Skulls was inhabited between the Neanderthals and Hommo Sapiens as we can well intuit from the numerous remains that we will find along the route. The visit to the cave generates an atmosphere of peace and tranquility, as well as being very interesting and fun for the little ones in the house.
